foot と leg の違い

突然ですが、足首って英語でなんというか思い出せますか？

そう・・ankle ですね。

今日のメールマガジンからこの記事に来られた方は、キーワード joing が出てきて「しめしめ」という感じですね。

foot と leg をジョイントするのが足首。

こうやってみると、同じ「あし」と訳してしまいそうですが、foot と leg は違うものであることがわかりますね。

ということで、足首が foot と leg をつないでいるということを念頭に、英英辞典を見てみましょう。

ということで、足首より先の部分が foot 。

いわゆる「脚」という、ももから足首まで（場合によっては膝から足首まで）の部分が leg ということですね。

今ではもしかしたらもう死語かもしれませんが「ハイレグ」っていうのは、脚が長く見えるということもあってそんな名前になっているのかもしれません。
