文系の人がいなくなる一文

高校生の頃の物理の授業を思いだしましたが、私は力学の授業が好きでした。

ただ、さすがにこの年になると記憶もおぼろげで・・。

さて、「重力」って、英語では gravity といいます。

ちょっと英英辞典で見てみましょう。

force っていうのはスターウォーズでも出てきますが、ま、「力」っていうことです。

どんな力かというと、地面とかに向かって引っ張られる力。

では、これに関連して「重心」というのを英英辞典でみてみましょう。

重心とはなにかって、小難しいことを言い始めるとキリがないのですけれど。

まず、重心のことを英語では centre of gravity または gravity point といいます。

The centre of gravity of an object is a point in it. If this point is above the base of the object, it stays stable, rather than falling over.

物体がバランスよくつり合っている一点・・・。

ん～、ま、こんなもん？？

形が変化しない剛体の移動は、その重心という質点の移動と同じと考えるのでしたっけ。
