相変わらず長い文章ですが、場所のことなのか、人のことなのか、考えながら挑戦してみてください。

He is known for wearing a deerstalker (=a type of hat), smoking a pipe, and playing the violin. People often think he uses the phrase ‘Elementary, my dear Watson’ when he is explaining to his friend, Dr Watson, how easy it is to understand something. In fact, this phrase does not appear in any of the stories. Nevertheless, people sometimes use it to emphasize how simple a solution to a problem is.

deerstalkerというのは何かというと、a type of hatと補足があるように「帽子」です。
ホームズの帽子ってイメージできますか？
あれ、鹿撃ち帽というそうで、イギリスで鹿の狩猟の際に、鹿を追い立てる役の人が被っていたそうです。
まさにディアストーカーなのですね。
ただ、ホームズで有名になったせいか、ホームズの帽子ということもあるそうです。
